Port St. Lucie, Florida
I’ve been wondering where all the creepy fetish pervs have been. But, just when I thought they had vanished, naturally, Florida has proved me wrong again.
A media specialist at who works at Jensen Beach High School was arrested over the weekend after a visit to Sportsman’s Park in Port St. Lucie. Robert Van Wagner appeared at the popular park and allegedly began asking young girls to try on socks he'd bought for them, run around for a while, and bring them back to him.
A total of three girls, ages 12 and 13 told police that 33-year-old Van Wagner drove past them several times in his pickup truck, then approached them at the park and made his unusual request. Van Wagner reportedly told the girls it was for a school project. However, police say the girls “smelled” trouble in Van Wagner’s particular project and refused the offer.
The man left after the girls refused, and when an officer arrived, they pointed out Van Wagner's car, prompting the suspect to drive off. Another officer tracked him down near the intersection of Northwest Curtis Street and Northwest Prima Vista Boulevard.
When the officer questioned Van Wagner about the unusual request he made of the young girls, "he stated it was his 'fetish,'" the police report said. He also said he "can't control the urges," according to the report.
Police are trying to figure out if Van Wagner, who works at Jensen Beach High School, was involved in a similar incident that was reported last week.
Although Van Wagner did not expose himself or touch the victims, he was charged with lewd and lascivious exhibition as well as loitering and prowling.
