Down in one neighborhood on Houston’s East side, there were plenty of fireworks for the new year, but I am not talking about sparklers here.
In this case, it was a domestic dispute between a same-sex couple, Belinda Espinoza and her partner, Ana “Nelly” Flores. That dispute, according to authorities, led to a murder-suicide.
Police said 24-year-old Ana Flores called 911 during an argument with her 29-year-old partner Belinda Espinoza.
With police on the way, investigators say that Espinoza pulled out a gun and shot Flores and then herself.
Family members confirm that Espinoza called them shortly before the shooting and threatened to kill herself.
The two deaths begin the official bayou-city body count of the new year.
