New Xanax Warning: Will Make You Burglarize Cars, Says Garrett Selleys

Garrett Selleys
Phoenix, Arizona

Before we get started, I had to know, “What the hell is wrong with his face?”

According to my brief research, thanks to WebMD, that could be one of the more severe side effects of taking too much damn Xanax. Oh and there is also another side effect, although not documented, Garret Selleys swears it makes you want to break into cars.

Police arrested the 23-year-old Selleys for doing just that. It could have been the iPad in the car that caught his eye as well. Police were able to track the stolen iPad to a pawn shop, which led them to Selleys.

The iPad was reported stolen back in August. When police caught up with the device, it was resting in a new home, Mo’ Money Pawn Shop in Phoenix. Transaction records showed that the iPad was sold by Selleys, using his Arizona driver's license as identification for the sale, and he even signed the pawn receipt with his own name.

Police caught up with Selleys at his girlfriend’s house. When the cops came knocking, Selleys and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Brittany Joann Reppert, were in possession of seven grams of heroin, syringes, baggies, and a scale.

The couple admitted to police that they'd done heroin and snorted bath salts the night before. Then Selleys told police about the August burglary.

According to Selleys, he and a friend, "Jack," were walking late at night near the victim's house when they broke into the unlocked car and took the iPad.

The two went back to Jack's place to sleep, and in the morning Selleys took the iPad to the pawn shop, where he sold the device to get money for drugs.

When asked why he stole the iPad, Selleys told police he was under the influence of Xanax. When he's on Xanax, he explained to police, the drug makes him want to break into cars.

Selleys, with a history of drug addiction, was already on probation. Police arrested and charged him with narcotic drug possession for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, burglary, trafficking stolen property, and narcotic drug possession for use.

Reppert also was arrested on similar charges.

"A friend will bail you out of jail... A best friend will be in the cell next to yours saying, damn that was fun!").
