Texas Mom Melissa Sowders Never Saw the New Year: Cops Believe Ex-Hubby to Blame

Down in Texas, there is a major debate going on concerning a case involving a missing pregnant mother, an estranged husband, a boyfriend, interracial marriage, a body discovered in a creek, stripping and the death penalty vs. public hangings.

To me, frankly, I don’t care whether a white female marries a male from another race, has four children, files for divorce, gets a new boyfriend before the divorce is final, is already pregnant with her fifth child, or whether or not she has ever been employed as a dancer or not.

What really matters is that a woman named Melissa Sowders went missing the day after Christmas, after reportedly meeting with her soon-to-be ex-husband at a McDonald’s. Police began their search, which eventually involved Texas EquuSearch and an area in and around Cypress Creek.

Early this morning, searchers discovered a body and while investigators await positive identification, family members say they feel certain it’s her.
Deputies say Melissa Sowders' vehicle was recovered a few days ago in a parking lot in the area.

Matthew Sowders, the estranged husband, was taken into custody following the discovery of the body. Following the woman’s disappearance, police say the 28-year-old husband was cooperative. That changed once the EquuSearch team began their search, with Matthew Sowders even hiring an attorney.

Family members say no matter what detectives uncover about Sowders' death, at least Thursday's discovery ends the sleepless nights marked of wondering where she was.

"It's just been terrible not knowing where she was or if she was OK," said Amber Newsom.

"A tremendous amount of relief, now we can bury her," said cousin Michelle Bierman.
