Edwin Wren Has His Own Ideas About Babysitting: Charged With Sexually Molesting 9-Month-Old Girl

Daytona Beach, Florida

Would you let this guy watch your child for you? Good, well neither would I. Unfortunately, a Florida couple opted to invite 19-year-old Edwin Wren over to watch their 9-month-old infant. Big mistake.

On Thursday afternoon, a woman called 911 to report her neighbor, Wren, came to her house stating there was an emergency in the home where he was staying. She said she ran to the neighbor’s house and immediately saw blood on the carpet.

Knowing that the couple who lived there had a baby girl they often left in Wren’s care, she started looking for her and found the infant crying in pain and bleeding profusely.

A 911 call reveals the distraught woman’s voice saying, “I went in there to check on the baby … and it looks like the baby has been raped.”

The baby was taken by EVAC ambulance to the hospital where she had to undergo surgery to repair tears to her body, according to Volusia County sheriff’s spokesman Gary Davidson.

And what about Edwin Wren? He split after asking the neighbor for help. The cops found him hiding in a Walmart bathroom. He told officers he had left the infant alone to go to McDonald’s and found her bleeeding when he returned to the home.

Officers retrieved surveillance footage from McDonalds, which seemed to contradict Wren’s story about being there. He then zipped his lips and refused to answer any further questions. Wren was arrested and placed in jail, without bail, on charges of sexual battery on a person younger than 12 and aggravated child abuse.

The baby’s parents were out running errands during this whole ordeal and according to the neighbor, the couple left the infant in Wren’s care a lot. The court has ordered the infant be placed in foster care, while the girl’s grandparents say they will fight for custody and may even press charges against the baby’s mother.
