Kiara Estright, a 19-year-old Pennsylvania woman is behind bars today, after she allegedly admitted to repeatedly breaking her baby's bones as punishment.
Police began an investigation on October 25, after Estright's 21-month-old child was admitted into Reading Hospital with a broken arm.
The staff at the hospital became suspicious of the injury and performed a full body scan on the child. The scan revealed that the child had suffered numerous broken bones and fractures that were in varying stages of healing.
According to investigators, the child suffered a fractured skull and left clavicle, three broken ribs, a broken hand and a leg that had been broken in several places. The child's injuries were all estimated to have occurred in the past 6 months.
Estright admitted to causing the child's injuries. In each injury, Estright reportedly slammed the baby to the floor, tossed the baby into a wall, or grabbed the child aggressively.
Estright was booked into the Berks County Prison on charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. Her bail has been set at $1 million.
