You know, you often hear of people getting cold feet right before their big wedding day. However, for one woman in Lakeland, she was just getting warmed-up.
Police arrested 32-year-old Destiny Witte on Wednesday, after she allegedly had sex with a 14-year-old boy two weeks before her planned wedding date.Why do I have "Here cums the bride, here cums the bride" flowing through my brain?
According to police, Witte and the 14-year-old victim met in person several times and exchanged text messages before deciding to meet at Lake Bonny Park in Lakeland.
After arriving at the park, police say that Witte took the boy to a men's restroom, which is where the two had a sexual encounter.
Police launched an investigation after the victim’s family members noticed Witte spending a lot of time around the boy. Family members also became suspicious of the boy’s unusual behavior lately.
Investigators believe Witte and the child had at least one "make-out session" a week before meeting for sex. Police say the sexual encounter at the park took place on June 24.
Witte is a mother of three school-aged children and was planning on getting married in about two weeks. As of late, reports indicate the wedding has been cancelled.
Witte was taken to the Polk County Jail and is currently charged with lewd battery on a child under 16 and 2 counts of lewd conduct with a child under 16. Authorities have placed her on suicide watch while awaiting her first court appearance.
