Leave it to an Aggie to mistake a power tool as a weapon. And that is exactly what happened with 21-year-old Matthew Lentz.
According to authorities, Matthew Lentz apparently “hit the sauce” a little too hard and wandered into the lobby of his apartment complex early Saturday morning.
A friendly security guard took the time to walk Lentz back to his apartment. That’s when things turned ugly. According to the security guard, Lentz locked him in the apartment and punched him in the face. The security guard called 9-1-1, but while his fingers were dialing, Lentz reportedly pulled out a cordless power drill and tried to use it as a weapon against the guard.
He is now charged with assault.
I think one of the commenters on the original story said it best.
“This calls for more tool control. We have to do more to keep tools out of the hands of criminals.”
