Illinois Teacher and Coach Darcee (Schmidt) Baney Busted for Sexually Abusing Underage Female Athlete.
Rockford, Illinois (Sinister Existence)
Are you having trouble getting laid lately? Have you ever thought about going back to school?
One thing is for sure. If you are a 7th grader at Harlem Middle School or any school nearby, you should have no problem finding action. Police say that is especially true if you find yourself in the same room as 27-year-old Darcee Baney, AKA Darcee Schmidt Baney.
Authorities have arrested Baney for sexually abusing a student athlete from another school. Baney has been a science teacher at Harlem Middle School for four years. She also coached varsity girls basketball at Belvidere High School, which is when prosecutors say she sexually abused a 17-year-old player on the team.
According to investigators, there were five incidents of sexual abuse that took place between November 2008 and March 2009. They did not learn about the abuse until March of this year, which is when they started investigating.
Baney is accused of 10 counts of sexual abuse and has been placed on administrative leave. Before being known as a sexual predator, Darcee Baney was known as one of Harlem's all-time great girls basketball players and the head coach of the Belvidere Bucs for the 2008-09 season. Darcee Baney remains the all-time leading scorer for Division II Lewis University.
She turned herself into Boone County jail and posted a $1000 bond to get out. Baney was supposed to coach 7th grade basketball at Harlem again this year, but obviously, the school has decided she may not be the right “fit” anymore.
Police are conducting an investigation, and both schools are conducting a separate investigation. Baney will be back in court in October. 23. The State's Attorney’s office says there may be other victims, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
