More Sexual Abuse Charges for Texas Teacher Kathryn Camille Murray

Houston, Texas

Back in February, we brought you the story of Kathryn Camille Murray, a teacher at Memorial Middle School charged with sexually molesting one of her students.

Murray, 28, became close with the 15-year-old student during private tutoring lessons (you can use your own imagination here). Detectives say the eighth-grade teacher went to the home of the 15-year-old while his parents were away on Feb. 11.The 15-year-old's 12-year-old brother was also home. According to court documents, the 12-year-old found his brother in bed with Murray.

A fellow school teacher blew the whistle on the relationship. During the investigation that followed, the 15-year-old told detectives he was in love with Murray. At the time of her February arrest, investigators learned that Murray had closed her bank accounts and had a passport ready to flee to Mexico. The judge in the case forced her to surrender the passport and wear an ankle tracking device while out on bond.

In February, Kathryn Camille Murray was facing only one charge of sexual assault. This week, prosecutors have filed three additional felony charges against Murray, two counts of sexual abuse and one count of improper relationship with a student.

According to the Houston Press, The boy told his parents that he had sex with Murray three times before the February 11 incident Murray was originally charged with. The boy's parents said their son told them he had sex with Murray twice in her classroom at Memorial Middle School, and at a hotel on February 10, "the night a dance was held for eighth grade students" at the school. On that occasion, according to the court records, the boy's father dropped him off at the school for the dance, but he met Murray at a nearby church. She drove them to a nearby Candlewood Suites hotel, where she had already paid for the room in advance -- and they had sex. She then drove him to "the vicinity of the school," and he walked about 100 meters the rest of the way, according to the records.

A Spring Branch ISD police officer has discovered hotel security footage showing the couple entering and leaving the hotel together, according to court documents.

Murray is expected back in court next week.
