Constable Brian Bachmann Gunned Down in Yard
College Station, Texas
Another deadly shooting rampage has occurred. This time, it was just yards away from the Texas A&M campus in College Station.
Brazos Valley Constable Brian Bachmann arrived at a home around 12:30 p.m. to serve an eviction notice. The tenant, 35-year-old Thomas Caffall, responded with a barrage of bullets that led to a 30-minute gun battle with responding officers.

When the gunfire was over, the list of casualties included 41-year-old Constable Brian Bachmann, landlord Chris Northcliff, 43, a woman from Houston who was helping her daughter move into the neighborhood for college and several police officers.
Constable Brian Bachmann and landlord Chris Northcliff were killed. Thomas Caffall, the shooter, was killed by police.
Caffall’s Facebook page paints a disturbing picture, clearly showing-off his interest in guns and questionable quotes.
He recently wrote:
I am pulling a cross between Forrest Gump and Jack Kerouac (without the drugs). I'm on the road, permanently.
“An individual was inside the address and began taking fire on the officers. The officers defended themselves and called in additional officers. Additional officers responded and began trying to handle the situation as best as possible,” said Asst. Chief Scott McCollum, of the College Station Police Department.
The shootout with the suspect lasted for an "extended period of time," the chief said.
Chuck Ross, a nearby neighbor said he heard as many as 40 gunshots.
"I heard two bullets whiz right by my room... and I just threw myself out of bed and said, 'I don't think I should be by my window right, now," Ross said.
Officers who rushed to the shooting scene tried to save Bachmann.
“Several of the officers that were responding began CPR on the constable and he was transported to a local hospital,” McCollum said. "Brian Bachmann was very close to everyone in law enforcement. He was a pillar in this community and it's sad and tragic that we lost him today."
“It is a tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those involved and we will do our best to conduct a very thorough and accurate investigation to try and determine exactly why this occurred and provide some answers to the public,” McCollum said.
McCollum is not commenting on a possible motive at this time.
According to reports, the gunman’s family is not surprised by what transpired today. Thomas Caffall’s mother, Linda Weaver, issued a statement through an attorney:
Linda Weaver, mother of Tres [Thomas] Caffall, asked me (Tyler Moore, family attorney) to forward this release to you in behalf of her family relating to the terrible shooting in College Station today. “Our family was shocked and devastated by the tragedy this afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers go to the families of the deceased and the wounded victims. We mourn them and the loss of Tres. He had been ill. It breaks our hearts his illness led to this. “Please respect our privacy in our grief.”
Constable Brian Bachmann leaves behind a wife and two children.
